Week 5 AirbnMe

This week I reached out to the Zoom conference attendees about their feedback regarding how COVID will affect their booking procedures. I couldn’t get a lot of valuable feedback because people are preparing to reopen soon, but I have been able to observe each individuals' announcements regarding the changes in appointments, prices and procedures. Individually, they all vary, but one thing I noticed was new disclosures being added. I still want to be able to talk with them to get an understanding with how they came up with the response during the conference and how it will change with the reopening. Hopefully, they will respond to the emails I sent out sooner that later.

I revised the Lean Canvas and omitted some entries altogether. I also added segments like #COVID19 and #money to sort the segmentation of customers and services impacted by finances or the COVID crisis. I also was able to share the Lean Canvas link with Dr. Stoltman for review on Monday June 1st and he suggested that I speak with Jeff from Tech Town about implementing a mystery shopper. When I reviewed that with Jeff, he suggested that may bring inaccurate results if a service provider may be having a bad day. Instead, he suggested that we should ask 50 service providers to give me a copy of their schedules. I will be able to solicit the calendars from the service providers who buy lash extension supply products from me.  From these calendars, Jeff suggests that I will be able to see what service providers need based on trends related to peak booking, booking blocks and open booking. This will help resolve the RFM Dr. Stoltman talked about in our check-in. Looking for how often and how much a service costs initially and how much and how often after that. To figure out the needs of the customers, I can research “Detroit Hair and Nail Clients” on Facebook which is a feedback page to help clients navigate to good service providers and highlighting bad service providers.

Dr. Stoltman also suggested that I study the Airbnb model and Jeff concurred. Looking at a further teardown of Airbnb would help me coach my users on how to get bookings and direct access to communication. Although Airbnb is a two-sided market, and Livid Lash Pro isn’t-- their tear down will help with thinking about if we should implement a standard fee for making a reservation (or not) and the ways in which payments maybe processed.  I also spoke with Jeff about suggestions for other VC companies for women and minorities to rework my paper. I couldn’t work the monologue portion because I need to research more of what the service providers need. I have held back on the workshop marketing because I have received a lot of new products and I have a significant amount of orders and I want to prioritize the market for that. I have found an influencer for the Magnetic Lashes and an influencer for the Polygel nail kits. Both products involve an easy DIY system alternative where customers can easily apply lashes and nails without needing a service provider. I also have enhanced that packaging and product line for lash extension supplies for professionals. I will need to track the progress of those products.

Progress during prior week

  • Individually looked at Zoom attendees updated procedures and updates to make sure their feedback wasn’t a result of group think

  • Revise Lean Canvas to hon in on segments

  • Didn’t make monologue directed toward attracting Service Providers, but focused on getting RFM calendar feedback

  • Didn’t execute product and workshop marketing but pivoting towards marketing for products that had preorders that arrived

Plans for the coming week

  • Add “Payment Plugin” into the Lean Stack Canvas

  • Focus on New Products and Marketing

  • Request schedules from supply customers

  • Research Airbnb teardown

  • Continue to observe the reopening of Attendees until they become available.

Questions/Issues/Concerns/Observations

I don’t have many questions, just a lot to work on between the feedback I got from Dr. Stoltman and Jeff. I am going to enjoy looking at the tear down of Airbnb’s business model.
